On owning your words

Platforms change their terms, get acquired, or quietly die. Anything I write that lives only on someone else's server is on loan.

Markdown in a git repo is the opposite of that. It's mine, it's portable, it outlives any particular renderer, and I can grep it. The site is just one view over the files.
